"I've always been passionate about cooking."
Trattoria da Sasà was established in Salerno in the 1970s.
The founder was Grandfather Donato.
Later, his son Salvatore, known as "Sasà" (from whom the trattoria takes its name), with the help of his wife, affectionately called Nannina, continued the family business, maintaining the primary characteristic unchanged... at Sasà, only fresh fish is served.
Currently, the trattoria is run by the third generation, specifically by the sons Donato and Michele.
Donato is the soul of the dining room, and Michele is the beating heart of the kitchen.
At Sasà, time has stood still; while the era changes, the result remains the same, with no alterations. The cuisine showcases traditional dishes, using only and exclusively the catch of the day.
Inside the establishment, there is a counter displaying all the day's fresh fish (such as sea bream, scad, prawns, razor clams, squid, etc.) that you can see and select freely.
The only certainty is the menu, which changes daily based on what our sea provides.
Indeed, Donato, not just a front-of-house man, goes daily to his trusted fishmonger to meticulously select the catch for his guests.
There is no fixed menu; instead, a QR code allows you to choose your favourite dishes.
At "Sasà," it’s not just an ordinary trattoria; it’s simply the story of Salerno.

Simplicity, origins, and research are the strengths of Sasà's kitchen. Donato and Michele, sons of a legacy, warmly welcome you to a trattoria with over 50 years of history in Salerno.
Starters, first courses, and high-quality seafood second courses, all freshly prepared by Michele, the chef. A constantly evolving menu presented by Donato, the eldest son of Sasà.
Two guiding principles: respect for tradition and respect for the characteristics of the ingredients. Raw materials, ingredients, and local products are used in harmony with the seasons. Fresh fish and home-style cooking have been the offerings at the table for three generations.
We don’t have a fixed menu; our inspiration comes from the seasonal offerings of the sea and land.
Star dishes of an ever-changing menu
The skill and passion of Chef Michele are evident from the excellent starters.
The first courses range from calamarata with monkfish to the house specialty, pasta with beans and mussels—a true taste experience.
Lagane with chickpeas and baby squid. Spaghetti with clams and mixed seafood. Linguine with mantis shrimp, linguine with razor clams and pecorino. The house specialty, a recipe crafted by Salvatore Luongo, is penne alla ortolana with eggplant, zucchini, carrots, and a pinch of minced meat, sautéed with white wine.
Unforgettable on the palate is the pappardella allardata.
Risotto with mantis shrimp, savoy cabbage, and lemon; tagliatelle with egg over fennel cream with bottarga and anchovies; cuttlefish risotto with artichokes; spaghetti aglio e olio with cooked and raw prawns.

Grilled white bream and freshly grilled salmon – we only use the catch of the day. Humble fish, without embellishments, becomes rich and generous.
Ancient recipes that we don’t like to call gourmet, we safeguard the legacy of our previous generations as a true heritage of knowledge. We believed it was wise not to lose this memory, while at the same time embracing the new and the unfamiliar.
For us, the result is an authentic offering. We are certain that our father Salvatore, watching over us from above, would be proud. Here are some of our starters.
